The difference is electric cars like to reignite hours or days later, when it may not be seen until its out of control. As electrics become the mainstream, the law of diminishing returns becomes a joke.   I only mentioned boats because fire suppression systems for vehicles are a thing.

Personally I feel like not leaving your kid to bake to death is a pretty good delineator between "good parent" and "bad parent." And if you can't clear that bar, well...

Screw you. Sometimes it’s ok to judge people. A lot of this was offinsive, frankly. Forgetting where you put your keys and forgetting where you put your kid are not at all comparable. And forgetting your kid and leaving him to die in a hot car is pretty much the definition of “bad parenting.”

Thank you Bradley. It was a shitty day and I needed a laugh.

Sure, that's why old school gas cars don't have them. But specifically talking about electric vehicles that can reignite hours (or days) later, like we are? Seems kind of dumb not to have one.

Sure, but in the context of talking about electric vehicles with a proclivity to reignite hours later; and a “I was just pointing out that the technology isn’t new and would be easy” point of view, the “what exactly is your point” equation comes into play. As far as safety, the “proclivity to reignite hours later“

Your dog is not a child.

As tragic as it is, in situations like this, responsibility lies with the parent. Period and end of discussion.

Ever seen a vehicle fire? They aren't touching the hood release, it gets cut open like a clamshell.

Most large boats come with a fire suppression system, Halon or otherwise and they’re just accepted as standard equipment. That exact system wouldn’t work in a non enclosed area, but surely something could be engineered. As for the optics, the same argument could have been made about hydraulic brakes, windshield

Ok, thank you. In Oregon they don't care. I've literally filled out lost title paperwork in the parking lot and walked out with tags.

But... Wth is an “open” title? Usually they’re “clear” “branded” or “missing”

Came here to say that. It would probably handle better than an old Bug, but not much.

Thank you for saving myself the trouble of trying to say that as eloquently as you have.

Hes a better person than I am. I would have unplugged both ends of the cord, cut them off and left it coiled neatly on the hood.

Probablymy least favorite thing, after asphalt. With the explosives, I should clarify. It was the late 70's, and Grandpa and the uncle’s had a rock quarry. It was a different time.

I remember as a very small child my grandfather using dynamite to remove stumps. I was little, but I remember we were pretty far away but it was LOUD. My 4 year old self was impressed.

Dude up the road from me carved a bear into a high stump after a fir snapped in a storm. It’s awesome.

I might be way off base, so if I am someone please enlighten me. But isn’t there a provision in the 25 year import law about chassis’s that have already passed US crash and emissions standards? If the chassis and emissions controls were built to the same specs as a US version I would think it would be doable. Did they
