This is a silly comment. This article is relatively positive towards Rhodes, even while mentioning his abject corruption and role in the murder of 4 innocent students.  Also, he was a governor and a republican.  Those are the facts.

That’s just one (1), singular (as in not plural) person with a unique way of doing things. That is not “Americans”, a Country of 330,000,000 people, most of whom do not have half a dozen old cars laying around.

My point being, with all those highly reliable Japanese cars around, I really don’t understand why Americans somehow cannot rely on one 15 year old properly maintained car.

Slumlording is really diversifying. Used to be it was dominated by the same sorts of middleman minorities who owned liquor stores and ripoff dry cleaners, but now black folks are finally getting in on the business.
