Awesome piece. I look forward to reading more from you wherever you land after your douche bag bosses fire you for straying from straight sports commentary.

David Roth is an editor at Deadspin. For now.

I appreciate the bravery of the editors and writers who have rebelled this week. I understand that it involves a substantive cost - in terms of lost wages and stress - to protest the actions of a tyrannical upper management who have for months tried to steamroll the editors across G/O.

This is a true story: When I was in my dirtbag 20s, my friends and I used to hang out at a crappy bar because we loved the main bartender and the culture there. Then the scumbags who owned the bar fired the bartender we loved. He went to work at another bar and we followed him there. The first bar is closed now.

Just wishing all of you the best. This situation sucks, your management sucks even worse, and I hope all the staff makes it through to the other side at a place where you’re actually appreciated.

It won’t get shut down but it will be dead, as far as we know it anyway. Probably by this afternoon.

If our worst fears come to fruition and deadspin gets shut down, the one silver lining will be that the last post that actually stuck to sports was one about the Browns being all Brownsy.

We’re trying to ungray everyone who behaves, and we can easily ban the trolls. So come on over.

How great would it be if the other blogs all started covering sports today?

As someone who was once part of a similar insurrection against arrogant, incompetent, and condescending management, I want to applaud all of y’all for today’s showing. I’m sure you’re simultaneously enjoying the fun of mutiny while also understanding the risk. Please also know how much it means to us here in the feebl

If you look closely, they are not even plugged in.

Can you let me know when you will be returning to sports coverage so I can go back to checking in once or twice per day? I have a lot to do today at work and all of these posts about non-sports topics are distracting because I Must Read Every Single One of Them. Whereas with the sports stuff I really only care if its

I watched the whole press conference Sunday and it perfectly demonstrated this. He is a gaffe-prone moron. And then the political shows tried to suss out ‘what he meant’ and what any of this means. The answer is NOTHING! He is that stupid and he is unable to have any meaning beyond “I am great, I do great things!”

“Now, all at once everyone... SCOWL”

This isn’t analysis because there is nothing to Trump, or to his politics—no room for subtext, no broader strategy beyond whatever seat-of-the-pants pandering is most immediately apparent, nothing but the wheedling and undignified and insatiable vanity that is always right there to see.”

Sticking to sports is a recipe for boring, low traffic articles.

the thing that most powerful people want to do with power is use it to tell other people to shut up

David, I wish to register a complaint. You’ve filed this story to Politics, but this is erroneous, as this is clearly a Sports Story.

You guys are awesome. It is not hyperbole to say that this site often gets me through the day. Keep up the good work, and for the love of god do not stick to sports.
