I moved to Chicago a few years ago and I was surprised by how few average, consistent restaurants were available.  There’s ton of really good/expensive restaurants and really cheap spots, but hardly anything in the middle.

When we lived in Western Wisconsin, there was a place called Mike’s Smokehouse.
