Well, however the problem seems to be the CPU. I was reading up on Skyrim last night and it appears the CPU is the biggest bottleneck for the game. Anything under 4GHz tends to spaz out in certain situations. The game also only takes advantage of two cores max.

Steam is the only thing running in the background that isn't part of the OS. Besides, I'm seeing that even while running Skyrim I still have 2GB RAM free. I'm just losing framerates in places like Whiterun on medium/high settings, though I should be able to run it on high/ultra.
