Where did you hear that from? Its a 5.5 V8, regular oil change and that's about it for the maintenance. Nothing special about it, not like an E46 M3 where you have to have the valves manually adjusted with new shims after each 60k miles...

These are actually fairly bulletproof. Would definitely need a thorough check by an indy MB specialist.

X5M is on my short list of potential post-lottery-winning DDs. I just really like the idea of something that will do 0-60 in 4 seconds while hauling 3 people and 200 pounds of dogs in comfort and can ignore chain controls.

A common problem with the S85 engine is at higher mileage, it requires the rod bearings to be replaced. Would be something to keep in mind for anyone looking at these cars with such high mileage. http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e60-…
