Maiden named was McClintock. Scottish, definitely. :)

Apropos of nothing, but my great-grandmother was named Malvina, as was her mother. Odd name.
I’m happy to hear you liked it. I’m getting ready to begin.
Melungeon are black, white and often Native American people who intermarried when it wasn’t allowed. I’ve heard that sometimes they would call themselves “Portuguese” because they had a similar skin tone. So, “Puerto Rican” might not be too far off.
On my mother’s side, I am part of the Melungeon people of Virginia. They lived in Louisa County. They later settled in Jackson and Vinton counties in Ohio. You can see on the censuses how they, over the generations, identified as black then “mulatto” and eventually white.
Bulk potatoes were cleared out here, too. But, every other fruit and veggie seemed to be in stock.
Cheap napkins can be flushed okay, as long as they’re thin.
Jealous!
I’ve lived/grown-up in SW Ohio, SE Michigan and South-Central Indiana. These seem like Chicago recipes. Sanders bumpy cake is not that great. It certainly doesn’t represent the best of SE Michigan. Give me a good, fresh paczki or delicious baklava any day.
I’m sorry about Reyla. I hope things get better for you soon.
Nevermind.
Gorgeous shots!
I knew it had to be the Ann Arbor one! Awful traffic.
That’s not the Hope Diamond in the picture, is it?
Thank you!
I have a ghost kitty! She’s small and grey. I’ve only seen her in the house we live in now. My husband, mom and son have all seen her, too. We see her a few times a week.
I live in a small village of about 1200. We have three good, local pizza places. There’s a Casey’s about ten minutes away. I can’t imagine ever picking it over the local mom and pop’s.
Yes, please!
My great-grandmother would dream about a team of white horses pulling a carriage the night before someone died. That side of my family is from deep in Appalachia. They were/are all very “attuned.”
Thank you! I wish I could give your comment more stars.
