Well if groups should be excluded from bad, unfunny comedy then that would be every group and almost every joke. And I doubt SNL's jabs at rednecks come with a lot of empathy or understanding. Cheap jabs be cheap jabs.

Eh, I laughed.

Apples and oranges.

The media, AVC very included, love to make people like Kanye out to be assholes because the readers love to hate him, love to eat it up. You can write maybe one good story about having sympathy for his problems as they do for celebrities people like and pity for their issues. Kanye, Corey Feldman, Mel Gibson, etc etc.

Depends on who is releasing it theatrically. Is it Janus Films?

Yeah it seemed really stupid to me too but it's really just a throwback pulp thriller. Convolution is part of the fun!

Well the large portion of their content is shitty YouTube videos with lame snarky jokes attached to them, so I really doubt they are concerned about their editing reputation.

He's also unapologetic that it can be delicious which seems to really be what gets on some people's nerves. It seems like people are OK with poor people eating dog so long as they suffer through it and would eat literally anything else given the chance.

But cmon. It's so much fun to make wimpy vegans upset! Don't take that from him!!!!

Yeah, I remember how epic and how tragic it felt when you awaken as an adult and I realized, damn, his whole life vanished. You go outside and seeing the scale of change is pretty wild too.

This post is irresponsible from the AVC and classic lazy tl;dr from the writer and editor. No one should donate money to this. The sentiment is nice but considering Scientology's attitude towards psychology, Vivian Kubrick's lack of any form of relationship with Duvall, lack of approval from Duvall or her family leave

Yeah living in Toronto is kind of like seeing through a crystal ball right now. Ford and Trump are similar in so many ways in terms of rhetoric, their supporters and attitudes. I imagine a lot of the politicking will play out similarly. Maybe Trump will get in to crack if we're lucky.

I don't know about this radical Trump guy… there's just too many questions… and bad buzz… If only he was on late night TV more I'd know for sure…

Well, good!

The early scene with Gylenhaal is such a level of intense, so few movies ever manage to come close to creating that much tension and fear. It's really amazing. I agree with everyone that the dual plots don't pan out and it squanders a lot of that good will in the incredible set-up. There are some great moments

Sure but the way it was written was extremely clunky and stiff. Hardly gave the impression that the General was doing that at all.

I had read that Miyazaki himself saw De Wit's short film and specifically wanted to work with him. Not sure how much he was involved beyond that, but seems like he was a fan.

The programmer at TIFF talked a bit about how it initially had dialogue, then it was gutted, and how quite a bit was reworked over time. That doesn't necessarily say anything about the final product but reveals maybe a bit about a central idea and the filmmakers experimenting a lot with how to best tell it, which

Except it's not a Studio Ghibli film. Good try though. Back to reddit with you.

I felt this was a bit overrated. Really beautiful movie but so simple that it's to a fault. Kind of feels like an animated children's picture book. Because it was so minimalist I had trouble really having a strong emotional connection to it and couldn't really form much conversation to have about it afterwards. Left
