I liked FTWS overall, but I think FWTS had various problems, including being cut short due to COVID, needing to have both Bucky and Sam to wrap up their movie arcs (Sebastian Stan did a good job but I always felt that Bucky was out of place), shoehorning Zemo in for Thunderbolts setup (Daniel Brühl was great, but Zemo

There’s also Jeff Montgomery, the sex offender, which he tried to get on again for several years (including after leaving the show). Don’t think we’ll see that one again. And the coach who does funny dancing. That only worked once, but you never know.

True. I suppose I don’t count political impressions, and yes, I always associate WUWT with Kenan. Forte didn’t have a character like that (he was the first announcer in WUWT but not especially memorable - certainly not enough to bring it back again), and he hated doing political impressions.

In the last season or two Leslie started to branch out, so I guess there’s always hope...

I think when people are too talented the show struggles with how to use that talent, especially singing and dancing. They gave her a warmed over Sound of Music sketch after giving another variation of that to Ariana Grande, and many others. I felt like she got more chances in the last 2-3 sketches of the night and

It should be an ideal chance for some of the ‘weirder’ newer cast members like Sarah, Aristotle or Andrew to be showcased. Of course we are more likely  to just get Will reacting to Kate and Aidy wackiness, but I hope not.

Sudeikis stuck to one old bit, I have a feeling Forte will too.

I would say that’s more of a recurring theme than a sketch - it’s something that is very familiar in various media (I remember when Mad had a “dark Annie” strip that involved her cooking Sandy and feeding him to an impoverished Daddy Warbucks).

I would be interested to know when she was booked. It was obvious that WSS wasn’t going to be a hit by around mid-December, and I’m not sure they would have booked her anyone that point considering all their troubles with Omicron. I think their mindset was as follows - 1) she’s stealing the notices (even more

Now playing

On the one hand, yes, the Dismukes character is being humiliated by his parents, but Dismukes is so good at these roles, it really takes the material up several notches. I like that this particular sketch ended with he and his father both having a goofy danceoff while the mother was screaming right into the camera -

I try to accept Fallon’s limited interview skills but this one bordered on excruciating - patronizing and false in the worst ways.

Netflix was never really the same for me after they dumped most of their classic/obscure movies and TV shows put out on disc.

This isn’t far off where I was last year when I finally dropped Netflix after about 12-13 years. The money, yes, but also the content - I was more and more put off by the tone and quality (like 13 Reasons Why) of much of what they were promoting. I can find more genuinely good and eclectic product at a site like

Thank you for the time and effort you made when many people needed the entertainment.

Canceling Cable/Men’s Room (Culkin) - The former was a good use of an ensemble as well as a problem that many could relate to, in a sketch which gradually built to a satisfying conclusion. The latter was a weird, conceptual piece with a lot of good performances and which didn’t feel like it was trying too hard - until

That was also my favorite, along with Calling Angie, which had a good build and a funny conclusion. Three Sad Virgins was an obvious stab at becoming known, which I respect (especially when most of their shorts still get cut), but reminded me too much of the somewhat tedious starfucking era of the Lonely Island films.

Ronnie has such a unique voice, piercing and melodic and so suited to the moment, to any moment. I remember someone once saying Sarah Vaughan could make her voice feel in tune with any instrument - I would say that is true of Ronnie as well. And she feels like she is right there with you as she sings, of joy or

I saw a second of that and it was just Kathryn Hahn and Jennifer Aniston in bad wigs, laughing their way through rather than reading their lines. I guess at least someone there sort of tried.

I’m also not sure how new they are. I feel like depressing/resetting sequels have been around for an eternity.

She won an award because she’s Nicole Kidman. If she managed to hide her accent the whole time they would have given her two awards.
