He was also a lot of fun in Switching Channels.

I think it would have been a stronger segment without the Saville comparison (which wasn’t needed and mostly got in the way of his larger point), but otherwise I thought he did a good job at laying out the facts, especially in pointing out how new many of these monuments are and also by acknowledging people who are

Given all the years I’ve criticized SNL for mealy-mouthed political commentary, I suppose it’s hypocritical to criticize the WU comments about guns. So I guess I’m a hypocrite, because I felt like it was all empty grandstanding to get applause and headlines. At least Michael Che managed to deliver the vague attempt at

I’d also add the gun going off while Bobby, Shelly and Becky were in the diner. That was a brilliant, disturbing set piece.

I’d also include the poor teacher, Miriam, crawling through the grass for help. It wasn’t a complete shock, as many fans had speculated she was still alive, but still, it was a moment that made me stop. Also in the trailer park saga - Shelly going flying off the car driven by her enraged daughter.

I think it was to show there was something broken and rotten in that world and that Cooper was changing. The real Cooper wouldn’t have done that. There are some things I would trim (with the season panning out the way it did I don’t think there was any need for Richard, or at least I would trim some of his scenes...I would probably trim a few other bits like Frank’s wife, the Bill Hastings stuff [which mostly bored me, beyond being glad to see Albert again and

I have no idea if my post even went through or is even pending so I don’t want to double post, so I’ll just say - I think that in many ways this was closure for Dale (and in some way Laura, although it’s not the ending I think she deserves) but I think there’s still scope to finish out the stories of the people in the

Lynch has been very vague about another season, and so have the people around him.

It didn’t really suit the show, but I loved “Mississippi” by the Cactus Blossoms. It gave me Everly Brothers flashbacks. The Veils were also excellent, and very on the nose to the current show and what it represents.

I feel like this was definitely a large part of the first half of the season (themes and imagery over story), but I think there’s been more balance in the back half.
