It's a turboshaft engine, so you have the turbine ultimately powering a prop shaft through some undoubtedly complicated transmission. The exhaust is otherwise rerouted or used for additional thrust I imagine. At least that's my limited understanding of these boats (and helicopters, of which the engine comes out of).
