One more reason to avoid Vegas all together.

Just pay your service workers a living wage. Hell, my daughter - age 19 - works as a hostess at a nice restaurant in Vancouver. She makes $20/hr and gets a small cut of the tip-out. Yes, Vancouver is exceedingly expensive to live in. But she and her roommate make it work. Decent wages make a difference.

I wish more Americans would stop conforming to the “tipping customs of the US”. They’re not customs, they’ve become a scourge. There’s a cab and there’s a cab fare. WTF is the tip for? Driver actually breathing? What’s next, tipping your cashier at Walmart? You wanna put a surcharge, put a surcharge, but fuck this

Wow so if everyone refused to tip businesses would literally sort out the financials overnight and start paying employees fair wages? Or do you think this is just a cash grab and not much of this “surcharge” is going to make it to the workers?

“Affordable project car”???

Jalop has been pushing EV’s as hard as the rest of them. The commentariat as well, with what seems very few readers replying with “Hold up a minute” on EV’s. But even Jalopnik can’t ignore what’s happening with the market.

I’ve heard the whole “invest the money and get a better return” argument from many different sources, but I’ve never been able to wrap my head around it. So I guess the conceit is, if you have $35k or so lying around, rather than buying a new car, you should put that money into “the market” whatever that means, and

And then even better would be to give them metal wheels and have them run on their own rails to reduce friction and reduce tire/wheel wear costs.

Or alternatively, if you have a $100k to spend and really want a resto-mod then you’re probably going to build your own. Why accept the choices someone else made when you can afford to make choices of your own?

You could see the problem with this driver right away. He's on the wrong side of the road.

Or just include an actual spare wheel and not donuts.

This is more a story about how serious England takes traffic safety and enforcement. Two years suspension and 200 hours community serivce? In the US you don’t even get that if you kill a pedestrian.

Hey, I accidentally fit within the guidelines.

The DKW Carcará. A heavily modified DKW 3=6 that set the Brazilian land speed record in 1966, 213 km/h (~132mph) with a two-stroke 1,100 cm³ engine with just 103 hp. The Carcará is not the largest, but one of the most aggressive Brazilian bird-of-prey.

How about parts of a bird? If so, I nominate the Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing. It’s one of the most beautiful cars ever made.

Came here to say this, thank you for your service. Here’s a 1961 model, picture from the Studebaker National Museum.

Is it a car if it only has three wheels?

Studebaker Hawk.

Aston Martin Cygnet

Tercel of course. But only the 4WD Wagon.
