Woot! Congrats!

That sounds wonderful! Yes, dating an alcoholic is no fun. Or, maybe it is for a minute, but it gets old really quick. I’ve never done AA, but there’s a group called Refuge Recovery I might check out, mostly for the meditation. I have a mediation app on my phone but I never use it. I know it would be helpful for my

No, I live on the West Coast. People are very loosey-goosey with their time here. Everyone is late to everything and people flake all the time. Pisses me off. “Oh, sorry I’m late! Traffic!” Guess what? There is always traffic. Leave your house earlier next time.

Drinking definitely ended up causing me more anxiety than it cured, ultimately. I’m pretty introverted, but am pretty sure I’m not a killjoy now that I’m sober :) I drink so much cold brew coffee now, though. That, and seltzer!

I love kombucha! Some people who quit drinking won’t touch the stuff, but it’s nice if it’s on tap at the bar when my friends want to go out. I put it in a fancy glass and feel fancy drinking it.

Drinks cost so much! Now when I go to out to dinner and look at my bill, I’m always pleasantly surprised. And it seems like even on the (few) occasions where I wasn’t drinking a lot, even 3 drinks would make me feel like crap the next day. Not worth it.

Aww, thanks. That’s so scary what happened with your ex. I’m glad you’re better now and out of that relationship.

Good luck! It can take while to really feel the difference when you start taking it, which can be frustrating. If your regular doc doesn’t seem to know what they are doing, or you’re still not feeling a difference, I’d suggest going to an endocrinologist since they have more experience with thyroid stuff specifically.

Ha, so true. I gave up reading the reviews after a while.

I went out with a friend recently and she had ONE vodka soda. I was so confused. “You’re not drinking another one?!”

Ahh. Maybe they have a slide-in version? I hope you find something you like. Buying appliances SUCKS.

LOL. I didn’t realize warm water was a trend. Hard pass.

Thank you! I’ve missed you fine folks!

Yep. I drank a lot of craft beer and never skimped on spending $$$ on the interesting-sounding ones at the bar, no matter the price. I also liked whiskey, a lot. $2,000 is $100 a week over 5 months, which includes bar tabs, liquor store money, 7-11 beer money, and money spent on late-night Postmates deliveries. That

I use the stopdrinking reddit board as my community. I check in every day to support folks and post when I need support or want to check-in. I think it’s important to have a sober group rooting for you. If you don’t want to try AA, there’s also SMART Recovery and Refuge Recovery. Lots of resources out there, for sure.

Maybe get your thyroid checked? If that’s wonky then no amount of diet or exercise will help, in my experience. Also seconding weight lifting. Or maybe try a different kind of cardio? I like swimming and yoga.

Congrats! You’ll love it! Having your own space to do whatever you want with it is really fun. Having to pay when stuff breaks is less so, but it’s worth it IMO.

That would drive me nuts! My roommate is always buying crap and we live in a small house. At least he keeps it in his room, but whenever he comes home with stuff, I’m just like, “Why?” He has boxes in the garage he hasn’t opened since we moved in together 8 years ago, and his room is a disaster area. I’m tempted to

Ehh, I mean, unless you have an issue with drinking, I don’t think it’s necessary. I just don’t have an “off switch” once I start, and my hangovers were wicked terrible. I feel much better these days. I know lots of people who can just have a few, or who can take it or leave it, and that just wasn’t me.

Yes! I got this Samsung Gas Range. I was looking at Kenmore, too, but the door to my kitchen is a bit small, and this was the only one I could find that would actually fit easily thru the door. I’ve only used it a couple times, but I like all the features (convection! broiler in the top section!) and it heats up
