After all the goofy animals and slap stick added to IV I probably should not have been so horrified by Phantom Menace. The writing was on the wall, wasn't it?

Korean spas are the absolute best. They have a scorched earth policy when it comes to dead skin. No speck is safe. I have never been so soft.

I get my geek news almost entirely from io9, I had no idea folks had a problem with this! It's just so obviously awesome!

Tears are streaming down my face from laughing so hard.

My husband and I had a very rocky first year of marriage. Once we figured out how to actually be married I decided to propose to him to make it clear I was really in this and wanted to marry him all over again. We listen to music together frequently and it’s how we often express our feelings. So all along his route

It struck me too. I am pleased that GoT has sparked so many conversations about how women are represented on television. I’m hoping it ends up a net good. I’ve certainly learned so much about crafting a story because of the changes between the books and the show.

Folks can get awfully riled up, can't they? My hope is D^2 hear the criticism and become better storytellers as a result.

It's been so disappointing. I had thought they were more aware than this, both of themselves and our societal context.

I'm really curious how this episode will impact the conversation regarding rape on television. That was the most graphic rape I've seen on television and that it was a man is note worthy. I've been quite upset with how rape is used in Game of Thrones, yet feel very differently about its use here. Partially because it

That was the first thing I noticed too. “Nothing to see here, I was PC and everythin’!”

Being raised in a sex positive household I had the mirror out when I was 7 checking myself out. My mom thought I should understand all of my body. That all of this isn't just a normal part of growing up makes me so sad. Lady flowers are beautiful.

Best of luck! Your recaps made me press refresh an unseemly number of times.

Boobs. Ran into door frames for months. So annoying.

Given that women only comprise 30% of speaking roles I occasionally despair of seeing women's stories being told at all regardless, but hope springs eternal!

Well said.

I completely agree with you. Most period drama roles for women are either romance films or power behind the thrown type stories. I love it when the main story revolves around the woman herself and not if she’ll “make a good match.”

I honestly don't see why thinking the dominant culture isn't very aware of the experiences of the second class citizens means I think all white men are rapists.

I don't believe I said that. I meant that rape is handled poorly on this show as opposed to the books. I certainly don't believe all men are rapists. The author is a white man. Some do get it, most do not.

On this we can agree!
