Hmmm. I suspect that finding the lists isn’t the same thing as ‘doing the work’, in that reading the syllabus for a class in college actually taught you the skill or topic the class covered. But I’ve been wrong before.
I think your point is incredibly valid, and I hope my suggestion isn’t disrespectful. I was thinking not so much to avoid the work - I can use google and find lists, but many of those lists have the same books. Or the creators are sometimes organizations with specific monetary/business interests where the creator(s)…
Also, as an FYI, you can stream every episode of Frontline for free on PBS. They do good work. The solitary confinement piece they did a year or so ago was eye-opening and horrific.
