Well, good on Ezra Klein. The first step to solving a problem is to admit that you have a problem. And the credulousness with which the Washington media treated Paul Ryan is a problem. He literally pulled a Clark Kent on them, only instead of glasses, he convinced the press that he was a smart and thoughtful policy…

I assume you mean in your closing, “The real question [For Ezra]to ask is: What happens when the next Paul Ryan comes along?”

But Ezra Klein in the very article this is about closes with:

I live a secular life, and I think I’m largely a good person. It drives me insane that predators and scammers like these can claim a moral high ground over me because of their religion, and our society will largely agree.

But it’s that very assumption of good faith by well-moneyed and powerful media gatekeepers that should absolutely know better that enables the bad-faith scam artists to continue running their scams. It’s not like in 2010 there was a circumstance where pushing supply-side BS was not an obvious scam. 

This is in no way news, but it’s important to have these abuses documented, brought to light, and treated as the serious crimes they are.

400 allegations, but the real number is probably 20 times that.  It took years for Catholic survivors to come forward and that religion is no where near as patriarchal as this nonsense.

But oh boy, do they ever cry and blubber and beg for God’s mercy when they’re caught! (Then come back after a year or two and resume their self appointed moral authority over others).
