Nicely done!

Kudos to Mayor Schaaf for putting her own career on the line for the underrepresented. Now if we can get another politician to care this much about their constituents, we’d be onto something.

I just discovered Splinter in the last month or so, and I have to say I’m really turned off by how mean spirited a lot of the articles are. I thought Emily’s question was legitimate and handled quite well, considering what a horror show Twitter usually is.

Here here! I was pretty annoyed when I subscribed to Anime Strike and realized that every anime I wanted to watch only had subtitles. I get the argument that it’s better to watch anime in it’s original form, but I have Japanese friends who prefer the English dub of Cowboy Bebop. So I second FastFreddy666 - give us a

Loved it. If anything, you should be able to appreciate it for the cinematography. I honestly can’t remember the last show I watched that was so beautifully shot. Great choice to film in Monterrey, Mexico.

I keep Netflix around for the Twilight Zone.

Great albums. I just saw QOTSA IN San Francisco a couple weeks ago and they played a bunch of songs from ...Like Clockwork, which would normally annoy me, but it ended up being a fantastic show. Aside from the fact that Josh Homme seemed like a drunk asshole on stage. He actually kicked over a monitor, which the venue

I gave Red Sparrow a good twenty minutes before I walked out...just long enough to gather enough material for the spank bank.

I’m reeling from your assertion that “Money” doesn’t fit with Dark Side. That’s crazy. It’s the centerpiece of the whole thing (literally, it’s right in the middle.) But...to each his/her own.

I want to clarify that filler songs aren’t necessarily bad. They just detract from the overall feel of the album. These tracks would be better suited to a b-sides compilation or something.

I love the album, but I could do without “Kickstand.”

I’m super excited to see them in San Francisco in June. But I have to say, they definitely go for quantity over quality, which is what you’d expect by their high output.

Toss out some examples.

Oh no. We’re back to the dick measuring via record length wars of the nineties. Shorter albums are better because you’re always a little sad when the record ends, and it leaves you wanting more. Which is preferable to an album that’s too long, like, say, Superunknown, which is a great album weighed down by filler

Great article, Clayton! However, my biggest complaint about certain AV Club articles is that they are too short. For this topic, I think Clayton could have easily written an additional thousand words - at least. I’m not saying it needs to be as long as a featured story in the Economist, but the current length can

Why why why why why was this ever something I would wear?!

Michael, I really enjoyed your article, but I thought kicking it off with “Dear Chads and Beckys” as quintessential white people names was a little much. How would it make you feel if I started off a letter by saying “Dear Duquan and Namond”? And yes, those are two characters from The Wire.

My biggest relationship in college was to a girl who worked at Amoeba in Berkeley. She got me into a lot of great music (and gave me huge discounts on CDs - remember those?). One of those bands was Blonde Redhead. We would listen to Melody of Certain Damaged Lemons all the fucking time. I was obsessed with that
