Is it really worth saving? As a tourist trap, does it bring money in? Is it valuable in the historic sense? Ships have lifespans, and they do degrade, maybe this old queen has reached the end of hers?

If Elon just wanted to be rich, you wouldn’t know his name.

Did you type your virtue signal on your iphone or mac made by slaves in China?

In late 93' while attending the IMS in NYC I totally fell in love with the new (then) Monster. Fast forward to March 94' and I’m signing the deal on my first new bike, a red 94' Monster. Kept it for 6+ years and loved every mile ridden. Most of what you wrote about the newest one rang true with me, but I’m not being a

Sorry, the design is terrible, and you’re not demanding better from Ducati for being this lazy.

Dramatically less than ICE cars, which has been discussed and proven repeatedly. ICE can’t compete with an EV on overall environmental impact, even when the electricity comes 100% from coal, which isn’t the case anywhere in the world and electrical grids are quickly moving towards solar, wind and in fewer areas

In most places, EVs already have a lower environmental impact over their lifetime than an equivalent petrol/diesel car. At the same time, every single every electrical grid is getting greener every year. If you buy an EV today, it may only be charged with 20% renewable electricity, but in 10 years that might be 40-50%.

Dust to dust, they’re significantly less polluting and more recyclable.

Good point. I also guess I’m at a point that pizza and BBQ both operate on a spectrum. There are some that are objectively bad, however most are adequate and preferences are often related to one’s experiences and norms.

I get what you’re saying about the audience differences between the original and the current and previous US version. We love the UK version despite them jabbing fun at the US. We appreciate the high brow humor and honesty. The original wasn’t American and that’s fine, and that is maybe what made it great.

I’m not the type to root for someone’s failure, but it is hard to get excited about this show. I watched the episodes on the MT app. They’re ok. I like Dax and Rob well enough, Jethro is also quite personable. It is impossible not to compare this to the 2000s+ Top Gear. That is the gold standard.

Haas needs their own season

Saw the perfect saying this morning:

You do know that landfills have huge impermeable membranes under them to stop groundwater contamination, right?

Varies wildly by state.

OK, that might have come out wrong. I was agreeing with your assessment of automotive programming.

YOU don’t make me think of someone I hate, your assessment is an accurate representation of WHY I dislike that guy.

If the wife is planning to flog an EV like a go-kart, maybe consider a carbon fiber toaster-shaped go-kart on bicycle wheels: the BMW i3. And unlike every other suggestion, the i3 has suicide doors for loading your large progeny and dogs.

I hope those suicide doors can open without opening the front door first. That’s their biggest downfall, especially when parked in tight spaces.

well written! My friend and I argue about it all the time. Will he end up with more retirement money than I will. Probably. I would rather to things I enjoy than things I have to. I would rather not mess stuff up or break other things learning how to fix something and do it poorly. There are things I like to work on

Some people value money over time. I used to be this way - especially because I’ve spent most of my life being poor, and an artist. You’ll do a project that took eight hours for $50 because you really just need the gas money. That’s an easier equation when you’re a college student, but when you finally get to a point
