I watched the first 20 minutes on YouTube, and, yeah. That’s where I checked out. Nice graphics and sound, action looks good, but a serious look at modern warfare? Yeah, pull the other one.

I’m somewhat sympathetic to the notion that not all games need to be given deep examination with a harsh, political lens. Like, if its Super Mario Bros, yeah, you might be going a bit too far by comparing it to class warfare or something.

I fully realized this was a Call of Duty game when, after the mentioned London shootout, one of the main characters looked directly into the camera and said “if only our hands weren’t tied by politics, laws, or rules and could deal with these threats the way they need.”

When you make a game that is trying to make a statement by having a suicide bombing as your first sequence, you make your reviews into this.

If it’s aiming for the realism of war, the part where you abandon the rebels to be ethnically cleansed should be interesting.

It looks fine, for a CG anime, though I still think traditional animation (maybe aided by CG in the effects department) would look better.
