It’s only been “turned into a slur” by the very people whose continued existence requires that feminism is still a thing: Men who hate women.

Yep, secular humanism is my “belief system” or ethical orientation or whatever, and feminism is...another thing I believe in, specific to gender. Secular humanism is a broader umbrella! You could probably somehow be both a secular humanist and an MRA.
But shouldn’t some people specifically be fighting for the advancement of women to be equal and not just equality in general?
Well considering the fact that she’s doing press for a film about women winning the right to vote and brought up issues of gender equality all on her own, it seems a pretty fair question in this case.
That’s my issue with the response. To each their own, if you consider yourself a humanist then fine. But it feels like many people are using the term humanist to call themselves feminist without actually using the word feminist. It’s well past time we realize feminist isn’t a dirty/outdated word.
Jesus Christ if people don’t know what humanism is they should stop using the word. Yes even you Meryl.
I would love someone to ask all the male execs what number wife they’re on.
“By the same husband?” King inquired.
Adore.
Put it this way - getting a blood drenched sandwich at Subway might mean it would have some actual flavor to it for once.
I’m calling BS. There’s no way they fired him for being HIV-positive, because that’s illegal. And as countless BCO commenters have taught me over the last year, restaurants never do anything illegal, so all these stories are made up.
I can’t help but notice that by asking those specific questions the manager is implying that bleeding on the customers’ food is only a problem for HIV positive employees, as if it’s just perfectly okay to get a meal covered in HIV-negative blood. Then again, it is subway, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Exactly.
I think the argument would be that she’s contrasting two fairy tale glamorous things she’s supposedly doing with the fact that what she’s actually doing right now is her job. Where I’m seeing possible shade now that A citizen pointed at it is that she probably would have just said “playing a show” if that show…
Fun time to be working for Subways PR department. Lotta late nights.
even if the food contained small amounts of HIV-infected blood or semen
Ok, but what if he made my sandwich, then made a cut in his mouth, prechewed my sandwich, and gave it back to me???
That’s kind of how I feel about bitchy responses to my comments here.
My best friend in the whole world is a woman who’s mother committed suicide 20 years ago. There is not a single day that goes by that my friend doesn’t think about her mom. Holidays are especially hard for her. And it;s been two decades.
To me, getting the unsubscribed email means at least I’m not shouting into the void.
