LOL. Gotta love autocorrect. GMC Eagle would have been a jacked up AWD Pontiac Parasienne wagon....and now that I think about it, that might be been AMAZING.

When I was a kid in 1987, we rented a GMC Eagle and took a trip through Yellowstone park. Perfect vehicle for that trip. Such a great vehicle. Now I want one!
Exactly. I think they underestimate how important range is, but also don’t want to compete on the thin margins they would need for the larger batteries. But Porsche for example had no excuse. The fact that they had no long range variant for the Taycan is insane. And anyone who owns an EV (I have one)- that range…
I feel like the Germans are aggressively going in the wrong direction. Range. Charging infrastructure. More range. Design that strongly reads EV. RANGE. This is not that difficult.
Take your star my friend
A Raptor costs $75k? HOLY SHIT
Omg THIS. Rows of MRc/Tamiya and Kyosho sets priced far beyond my 10 year old budget.
I wanted that kit SO BADLY as a kid. A friends dad had one, unopened up on a shelf. It killed me.
Was just listening on the radio, someone described it as “a bit floaty”
Show those Europeans who’s the boss (THEY ARE)
I think his point is because of the marketing. GM is marketing this thing as a giant ass kicking hairy chest SUV man toy, the same as any other truck they maket, vs. the Cybertruck being marketed almost literally as something not of this world.
I agree with you, but I don’t think it ever will happen in fact, once EV SUVs get enough range for most people more people will default to them.
The Hummer was an aspirational vehicle for a segment of the population, and given our fixation with heavy duty trucks for personal use in this country, still remains one.
They almost did this. The fact that they pivoted to SUVs hard while Cadillac focused on sedans is the reasons why the two companies are now headed in opposite directions.
Tesla wins on charging infrastructure. Why no one else has bet the farm on this baffles me. All else being equal, you essentially can go anywhere and find a charger that you simply plug into. No other EV can say this.
Although if Rivian goes public and gets Tesla level valuations, another scenario is that THEY buy Ford.
I spoke with several of their team members as well as their director of supply chain, and I can confirm your statements. They are actually building out a proper manufacturing company. The fact that the first Lincoln EV is going to be a Rivian underneath is testament to this.
Omg I want that motorcycle
While EV is certainly going to reorient the market, I think that a lot of this is due to the relentless downward price pressure that OEMs are putting on suppliers, killing their margins and only being able to survive by being big enough not to bully around.
