“The cancel culture I am most familiar with is the one that wants to cancel science, diversity, history, votes, democracy, and the Dixie Chicks in 2003.”

When I was in middle school, I made a Slam Book. Each page of the notebook had the name of a popular person at the top. The aim was to pass around the book and anyone could write one line about the subject of the page anonymously.

So I assume Colin Kaepernick is going to be invited to testify? Or is this another venue that will be the exclusive province of underwhelming white men who feel they are owed the respect they never show anyone else?

The death toll of cancel culture is still at zero right?

I am so tired of America, for real.

White people: Why don’t you thank us white people for ending slavery????

Keeo proving what a large portion of the black community is a bunch of uneducated racist ignorant morons who continue to live up to their stereotypes.”

One thing I do quibble with is that you didn’t highlight the fact that it was white people who also ended COINTELPRO.

“be less white.”

“BRPD officers have hundreds of encounters that we never hear of because they go without incident,”

Yup. I work from home and would like a vaccine for my own ease of mind but I understand and accept why I’ll be one of the last to get it.

Pretty much the ONLY good thing to come out of the last four years is the fact that white domestic terrorists have made it impossible for white folks who aren’t domestic terrorists to ignore them anymore.

Just a reminder that we are already past 500k deaths in the US. The official number is an undercount thanks to several states that lied or falsely reported their numbers over the last 11 months. We won’t know the real death toll until after the pandemic is over and we’re able to do some analytics. As tragic as this

I'm a millennial and people started paying me to babysit when I was 10. Once someone left me with 2 babies under a year old (I did have to call my mom, because babies cry so much).

I tell these stories, and my partner gets very loud about how this is all actually illegal in Canada, and people -will- call CPS. I’m like, “That’s great, but I’m teaching your kids to make food, do laundry, and clean because I am not doing all this work.”

I was left to my own devices by the age of about six, with my

Gen-X, the generation of latch key children. My Mom worked while she was putting herself through college, so yeah, my sisters and I were left alone regularly.
I know I started watching neighborhood kids when I was about 9 or 10.

Yeah, I was thinking - Nine?  By then I was a latch-key kid who routinely had a couple hours to my self every day.  By ten, I was staying at home by myself every day during the summer.

My sister at 9 was definitely left watching me at 3. This was '80, '81, and she did it for years. Some kids grow up faster than others because they have to. They shouldn't be underestimated.

I’m Gen-X and was left alone by myself or with another kid my age often so that my mom could work. I was also around 8.

Can’t even begin to imagine what Chance did to get disbarred, but only because there are too many options to pick just one.
