Why though? Gas engines are getting better and better mileage, have more HP, often have the same or more torque, you can get gas literally anywhere, and gas is usually cheaper than diesel in most of the country for most of the year.

I have around 300 at the wheels in my Gen 2, and with just a rear motor mount to limit the twist the torque steer really isn't that awful. NHV is probably more than would be acceptable in a refined new car, but it's not that bad.
