Underground is hella expensive, harder to maintain/upgrade, and makes sense in places that are either very dense or brand new. Very dense or brand new doesn’t describe nearly as much of the US as it does Europe.

I can’t find it now, but this is very much not hidden in the woods. It’s wide open on both sides, no trees, no obstructions, it’s shortly after turning off the main road, and it leads to just two houses on a dirt road. I’m not sure how you miss a train there.
