People buying $50K+ trucks and SUVs aren’t going to be phased if gas happens to shoot back up to $4/gallon. Sure, they may complain a bit more at the pump, but the costs to fuel these vehicles pales in comparison to the monthly payments, insurance, and maintenance costs.

It’s an option in most states, but well worth checking that box on the order sheet, especially on a diesel. I love my supplemental heater; it’s basically instantaneous heat. Everyone that jumps into the truck comments on how quickly it starts putting out the heat, even in subfreezing temps.

The new diesels with all their emissions equipment operating equals no more soot to get everywhere. Look at the exhaust of any modern diesel truck; its spotless unless the truck has been deleted and tuned. Gassers now throw out more soot than diesels, especially direct injected gassers, such as my ST.

You should also remember that every single vehicle driving on the road through your children’s neighborhood is filled with a tank full of “toxic high explosives.” While you’re worrying about that, don’t forget the dreadful natural gas lines that run under their precious little feet, oftentimes in the same right of way…
