Well I think 'ban' is a strong word as I think restrictions will be more common at first. There is other traffic on the roads (cyclists, pedestrians, construction equipment etc) that will have to be factored into the automation equation.

A few. Sentra, Lancer, Altima and Caliber. The CVT is a bit disconcerting at first for people used to driving an automatic (it feels like a slipping automatic) but I think if you treat it like a tach pedal it works decently. The Caliber was a dreadful POS but that wasn't just the CVT.

N - I don't have an issue with another 7 series. With all the brand bastardization BMW has done with crossovers and slushboxes another car would be a good thing.

Long-term reliability concerns aside I think a CVT is a better solution than a conventional automatic.

A lot of the competition doesn't even offer a manual anymore (in the US anyway.)
