I like it. I am not hung up on the brand name and I wont hit Ford for using such a strong one, but a quick look at pricing and it seems good. If you look at the standard range Tesla model 3, its a $40k car (you have to pay for anything other than white) and you only get a $1800 tax credit. The Mach-e Select with a

Consumers, dont you just love them...

I would agree on most of your points, though I would say that Lincoln’s pivot to mainly SUV’s seems to be paying off. Double digit growth in sales (ok, new models, expect some initial growth) for all that is lasting through Q1, Q2 and so far seem to be consistent. If they can keep this going, it looks like Lincoln

Mmmm, donuts.....

Yeah, thats my fear also. They might be selling now, but market pressures are driving prices down (no direct evidence, but suspect its going on) and from what I have seen at a bunch of HD dealers, they have a LOT of stock. Stuffing the channel / dealers and leaving them with a lot of second hand models is going to

Interesting and astonishing, but I have to say, a bit ‘meh’ for me. This constant push to faster and faster is impressive engineering, but all a bit pointless. Great for drag racing videos on YouTube, but real world? Doesnt mean much.

Yup - expensive! The current 2020 model range starts at $76k and when you build one with a few reasonable options, you are well into late $80k’s - quick build for me had me at $86k!

Yikes, $30k is a huge amount of money for something that has a limited range and thats before you add accessories, luggage and everything else.

This ^

Yup. Both Android and Apple have had the ability to automatically remember where you are parked once you disconnect your phone! Fantastic little feature and one less thing to remember when you walk around one of those temples to consumerism that is called a Mall.

I agree, thats a lot of work to do before you can ramp up to that type of volume in that timescale! That said, they are in the right location with the right companies and technologies locally to help them make it happen.

Totally agree. Musk clearly adheres to the ‘there is no bad news’ ethos when it comes to PR. Which is a shame.

So it would be fine for Porsche to turn up with better tires, wheels, motor (and potentially an extra one!) and more aero then? Hell, why dont they just put a couple of seats in a 919 Evo and call it a ‘production car’ that you can buy in 12 months time then?

Thank you, someone who gets it!

Ouch. But ‘real’ can mean different things to different people. Porsche makes some very good cars and to resort to calling their buyers names doesnt help your argument.

I agree. I know a few Tesla drivers who bought them new or nearly new. All of them, except one, came from something luxurious (Merc, Audi and BMW) and all but one have at least a couple of other cars at home. Only one moved from two cars to one Tesla, but I can see that there are a lot of buyers who have been spending

Porsche will have done extensive studies into who will buy these cars before even committing to the project. They will have everything laid out and from the pre-orders, it looks like it will be a success for them. Lets see though, it can still go very wrong for them.

Porsche perfected the way to print money years ago. Their launch process is a well defined process and yes, these are the top of the range for the moment. It doesnt take much to figure out that the lower models will come in less than 12 months followed by a higher performance model in 18 or so.

Agreed, with the recent simplification on pricing for the model s, it makes more financial sense. However, it wasnt more than a couple of years ago when people were dropping $140k on P100D’s so the number isnt out of the realm of potential buyers. And a consistent thing I hear is that the Model S isnt a $100k car in

Its worth noting that Porsche has a track record (sorry, had to put that in there) for under quoting their performance figures. They have done it for years with power, 0-60 times and so on. Chances are they are being very careful with the numbers.... lets see when the journos get their hands on them.
