Why does this have to be hate? What the vast majority of people commenting here have a problem with is that FSD isnt what it claims and this technology is being ramped up beyond belief. Hate? Where? I dont hate it, I think its cool and even in L2 form, done right, offers a lot of advantages to improve road safety for

Yup, I agree!!!

Thats the point! Smallest battery pack, fastest performance and went the furthest. Seems to be a win for Tesla there!

I am happy to shit on Tesla when they deserve it, but I am going to say that this doesnt really show anything. Yeah, so Tesla is the worst in comparison to the ‘calculated’ EPA range, BUT the performance model has a 75KW/h battery pack and the e-Tron is 95KW/h etc.... so yeah, worst on published range, but still the

I remember reading that Tesla uses the front facing cameras to ‘figure out’ if its raining or not. They did some updates to this a couple of years ago and talk tech around this - something around a ‘neural net’ to figure out if its raining or not.

Completely agree - probably use a third party for the castings with a contract based quality control process. Most manufactures will do a random test process before fitting, so its entirely possible for a bad casting to make it through to the vehicle.

Pretty much agree with everything you say. Self-driving will be for specific circumstances and situations, not for all. Certainly NOT for what Musk has been touting though.

You make the critical point here - authority! Family member is an airline captain and yes, they have the final word on any decision. Do they fly or not? Is a passenger allowed to fly? Divert to different location in an emergency? You get the idea. They have to justify why and it must be documented, but this is

Yep, agreed - its a little extreme to accuse them of constantly changing their pricing, but it does seem to go up and down a little too frequently though.

Local dealer is offering $2500 discounts on a 2020 model and $5000 on 2019 models. Not sure if this will continue into the riding season, but there are discounts to be had if you shop around. Still super expensive though.

No USB charge ports? There should be a hidden hella type plug under the plastic shroud near the dash and there should be two USB ports under the seat that are already plumbed in and ready to use. There is on my 2017 model.

Exactly. Being first doesn’t always mean that you will be (or retain) the leader in a certain market. Soooo many examples of this over the decades, but remember that Symbian and Nokia had the first smartphones and Blackberry pioneered the communications handset...... oh, how we fawned over them only to be usurped by a

Like the 911 and getting an air cooled one would be great. But, for that price, you can get a sorted Boxster / Cayman S for half the price AND you can then do some upgrades AND do some track days.... Cant see a 911 like this being worth it. Price bubble?

I agree, some of the Chinese factories are astonishingly efficient and effective. But there is more to a modern car. Yes, there was a time that first the Japanese and then Korean manufacturers were mocked, but they hit the market at specific times. Gas prices, cheap and efficient cars, reliability etc.

Not slow, I agree. But with a best 0-60 of 6.1 (Road & Track) and the Chevrolet Malibu 2.0T getting a 5.9 for the same sprint, its getting a little ridiculous.

And into the back of a parked car transporter:

Short of quantum leaps, there’s little chance of Level 5 autonomous driving happening outside of dedicated lanes/roads and geofenced urban environments in the next 5 to 10 years.

He’s made that comment a few times now and I have to agree, though not driven a Taycan!

Porsche (and a few other brands) do their research well and have perfected the model. Yeah, it seems to be a ridiculous thing, but for the vast majority of buyers dropping $200k on a car, a few personal touches are to be expected.

Yup, completely agree. There is no real-world scenario that you need to do that consistently on a daily basis. Even if you did really need to hit 60 in less than 3 seconds, its going to get very boring VERY quickly.
