Wow, I do not even hate Irreversible, but if that is the pinnacle of a movement, that is not a good movement.

It would be stupid and weak if there was no basis for it and they did it anyway. Whereas there is actually a plethora of evidence to support it.

God damn them, the Emmys are a joke. I don't know why it continues to astound me. How people actually in the industry can be so clueless, so ignorant of quality.

Damn, you might be missing out with Haneke. I would not go so far as to say The Piano Teacher is an outlier for him, but it is on the outer end of his boundaries. At least check out The White Ribbon.

I do not see how Insomniac has fallen off. Excluding their forays into VR, they've yet to release a bad, or really, even mediocre game.

Bran has no chapters in the fourth.

Do not seem to be obsessed with film if you see nothing worthwhile here.

The Eyes of My Mother is one of my favorites of the decade. I know he has at least one more work coming before this and would prefer he kept delivering original work. On the other hand good for him and his career. Hopefully he can elevate it to something special.

The main appeal is how it ends. It really is sad in such a unique way. It is Perkins take on a couple of horror subgenres but I don't want to give away what those are because they are intrinsic to the plot, which is presented in a fragmented manner. It also looks great and is genuinely unnerving at points.

Coven, or Evil Ways Instead of Love by Cultes des Ghoules, a true epic in a genre that loves to merely feign as such most of time. About despair and "empowerment" through darkness and madness. A perfect spiritual (or lack thereof) companion to one of last year's best films The Witch.

Better than that slideshow bullshit a lot of places do.

Solid albeit brief interview except for…

That is the point, though. It shouldn't be surprising.

I was quite curious how Lorde would follow up such an assured and focused debut. I had my doubts with the long wait and uninspiring Hunger Games track. When Greenlight hit, I thought oh well, that is it for me, she's going in a more generic, club-y direction. And yet I gave Melodrama a couple of listens and my

Watched Tess last night. Tremendous. It may be Polanski's best effort from a purely technical standpoint and Kinski's performance is so good. Despite all Tess suffers through, she keeps it from sinking in misery.

Jealous. At least Okja is close to release. Also, I have been looking forward to Una. Can you say a little about why it did not work for you? Thanks.

Good point. There has been some variance in these genres, but success certainly establishes a template to be followed. Breaking the mold could yield great results, though. Smash Bros. is proof positive of that. Obviously, the Nintendo factor cannot be ignored in that regard, but I think if they had merely crafted a

Respectfully, I must disagree. It does not matter how 'good' the tutorials are, button-mashing will be the way to go for most people giving fighters a go because the genre has not evolved at all. Their design is hopelessly archaic.

I found it to be an enjoyable journey, but it drags toward the end. This is an issue with lesser surreal works. It is fun at first, then goes on too long with an unclear endgame. I think it is because the filmmakers use it as a substitute for writing rather than an element of it. The masters such as Bunuel and Lynch

The Shadow of the Colossus remake. When the trailer started playing, it was the perfect mix of disbelief and awe.
