Not a genius so much as just logical. Most of the pool makes stupid bets, like Teti last week. Or multiple people this week picking Beric but not Thoros. The show has pulled it punches for awhile now, so it is just a matter of who is actually expendable and when.

Netflix has the streaming rights, so it should be on there within a few months.

Punching a Nazi just feeds into their persecution complex, but naming and shaming to drum them out of society does not? Come on… sending these people back into hiding is not going to fix the problem. It certainly will not destroy them. I agree violence is not the (best) way to go, but neither is just sending them back

Holy shit, I totally forgot there was a sequel to this. And it still played in theaters!

Was my first thought too.

I have not read it and do not have much interest in doing so, but from the descriptions and especially criticisms I have seen, it sounds to me like satire. I am guessing that is giving it too much credit, but anyone want to chime in?

Detroit is the most bungled release in recent memory. Dropping a prestige picture in August, in wide release (after a last moment limited rollout a week early, which was still too big) and skipping the festival circuit entirely for Kathryn Bigelow's latest.

"…singled out Buffalo Bill from Silence Of The Lambs as being damaging because of the way the film makes his desire to be a woman just as bad as the murders."

I would go for the BR of Cherbourg. The Fassbinder is bound to get an upgrade at some point. Waiting sucks, but as you said, you cannot have it all at once anyway.

Wow, she actually says "We've been penetrated". There are so many other ways they could have phrased that, so they clearly knew what they were doing. Wow.

Adversaries who become acolytes usually overcompensate.

I think he will save Arya when King's Landing falls apart and travel North with her, finally (sort of) fulfilling his promise. It could even be a case where he chooses to save her over Cersei or against Cersei.

Finally caught up with Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, which was a lot of fun.

Why would you want to see it in 70mm but not IMAX?

Just looks like a generic low-budget action movie. Where is the personality? Considering the director, it is not surprising. Maybe it is just an awful trailer but I doubt it.

Been playing a lot more Hearthstone, but it's time to cool off for a bit.

Benioff and Weiss have most certainly not proven themselves to be master world-builders. Talk about revisionist bullshit.

Who cares that he got a cameo? The scene was one of the highlights of the episode and a rare genuinely nice moment in that world. To allow it be ruined for them because a well-known singer happened to be one of the characters is inane.

Loved this when I saw it last year at NYFF. Genuinely hypnotizing experience. Solnicki in the Q&A afterward stated that there was no clear intent to it going in other than to shoot something. There is one morbidly hilarious moment in particular that seems like it had to be staged but he insisted was not. It is

It is just a dumb thing people (including Tarantino!) say when artists show an interest in what interests them.
