Yeah it interesting but my low optioned ‘89 3.2 (just LSD) is basically the same thing. I have no AC (not that it ever blew very cold anyway), lightly chipped, modified suspension and exhaust. It is a hoot to drive and these days gets more notice from bystanders than a new 911 turbo.
What is the R Class? The the most undependable vehicle I have owned since my 1973 Plymouth Fury III. Until the R, the Fury was the last car that stranded me on a not infrequent basis.

No big deal for Porsche. How about their use of a complex motor mechanism instead of simple solenoids for the door locks in some of the older cars? Plenty of other screwball overengineered examples, even in the hairshirt older models.

Interesting alternatives. I have been going through the same decision process to replace my current car. Big fan of luxury hatchbacks (I had a 928GT for years).
