Um—we are worried about Lindelof writing this BECAUSE of Prometheus. He proved, with that film, that the empty-headed nonsense of LOST wasn't a fluke: It's his style. Once we saw what Lindelof is capable of (not much) we lost hope for anything he touches.

I wish GRRM would suddenly retire, mid-book, without finishing it in any form. Say something like, "I quit. Too much pressure from fans. I'm burning all my notes and drafts."

So, Chick Tracy? Amirite? :)

Lynch's installment was mostly an interview about his thoughts on music, with only a few paragraphs focusing on the song ("It's a Small World') that he hates. To be honest, that Hatesong is probably the only thing I've ever enjoyed out of Lynch. So…good catch! I stand semi-corrected. ;)

Aaaagh! You're right, that's as awful as "Great Job" without a doubt. I actually used to enjoy Carmen Esposito (?) until I read her installment of Hate Song, which was so bad that I now cannot watch her at all. That's a dreadful corner of AV Club!

Well, Slant was 100% wrong. Or maybe their reviewer was very high that day. Then again, there are people who think Prometheus was a deeply philosophical film, so maybe Mission to Mars is meaningful to those folks.

I guess I've been misusing the words "great job" all these years. Apparently they mean just the opposite. (Gods, how I hate this feature! It's the worst corner of this site by far.)

That had to be a misprint. It is one of the worst, not best.

"Mission to Mars begins with some of the worst expository dialogue ever" and goes steadily downhill from there.

There's a scene in Tootsie where Dustin Hoffman's character is arguing with his agent about his acting career. It is a great, hilarious argument, including an exchange about whether a tomato can walk or not, but it's also pure exposition. By the end of the scene, you've heard the character's acting resume, reviews,

No, it's just ripped off from half the Trek films (including its immediate predecessor).

Go away, Fox troll. Yes, it's obvious that you are a Fox viewer. Don't try to lie and deny it: You spout the same idiocy in the same words as those anti-American fools, and you spout it in the WRONG places, such as AV Club. You are looking for The Blaze most likely.

You are truly deranged if you believe even one word of you what you just wrote. You spout the most obvious right-wing lines while attacking progressives and liberals, yet you're claiming that others are the ideologues. Seriously, you're either a gifted troll or a total idiot. Either way, you deserve nothing but

"Dude, you have issues. Put the ideology down and step away from the
crazy. Embrace logic and reason, for the love of God, before it's too
late." <— That is the most un-self-aware thing I've read in a long time. You are spouting ideology and complaining that others are doing so. Your diction is clearly that of a

Launching 20 new shows a year is ambitious, but not insane. "Launching" could just mean pilot episodes for each of those 20, with only a couple of them going to full series. That would count as launching 20 series.

Pacino doesn't do accents and makeup/costumes the way Depp does, so there wouldn't be a similar list about Pacino. Pacino almost always plays an ordinary human being while Depp has been playing Jack Sparrow, Willy Wonka, the Mad Hatter, etc… When was the last time you saw Pacino playing any kind of costumed & made-up

LOL! Okay, fair enough. :)

Lawrence Krauss is a professional, reputable physicist, not a fucking dweeb.

For information about jobs with AV Club, just scroll all the way to the bottom of this page and click on the word "Jobs" in the column "Links and Such." (You usually can find such a link at the bottom or top of a site, or under their "About" section.)

Don't forget the long and boring chase scene in San Fransisco. Nothing like watching ol' logical Spock in a fistfight while floating above an American city—that just SCREAMS "Star Trek," right?
