I hate Atonement. The ending is such a cheat that it ruined the whole movie for me.

"What the fuck is the internet?!"
Are you still registered as a sex offender for biting the recess lady's breast?
Well, Rob Liefeld wants him to play Cable. I suppose that could still happen. Wouldn't be my first choice though.
Rapaport is his Muslim name. He went by the name Brian Scalabrine when he played in the NBA.
Cool. Let's be friends again.
I don't know if I'd go that far, but any movie review that starts out with "Alejandro González Iñárritu is a pretentious fraud" doesn't seem to be coming from a very open-minded place. And Birdman fan or not, there's no way it's a 1-1/2 star movie. I like Tobias and the other Dissolve writers for the most part, but…
Yes. I liked it a lot. And you did not like it very much. Both of us are biased in our own ways. There's no need to be dismissive. You made a claim. I didn't find your claim to be credible. You failed to really support it when pressed. And that's fine. You are under no obligation to do so. But I'd appreciate it if you…
That's a scary thought. I guess it depends on which Nick we're talking about. Sometimes Nick can't even manage basic human life functions and other times he's the wise voice of reason. The show has every character play the straight man to every other character at some point. Which is great for the comedy, but makes…
Which is no lenses. That drives me crazy every episode.
I don't believe anyone's romantic chemistry with Nick. Sometimes he's a normal human being, but most of the time he's an unhinged lunatic.
So go to prison as agreed and then appeal. I'm no legal expert, but it seems like he would have had a pretty good case if even the DA prosecuting him agreed that he was getting cheated.
I don't love the Trump comparison for two reasons: 1) Affleck really was amazing in Manchester by the Sea. Trump, on the other hand, was not qualified to be president even if he wasn't a sexual predator. 2) The President is, rightly or not, often looked to as a moral arbiter for the nation and an example for small…
Not at all. I'm not saying they're the ultimate arbiter on quality. I'm simply making the basic assumption that their stated opinion is actually their opinion. That's not exactly going out on a limb. Especially when your only evidence that that's not the case is that you have found their tastes in Best Picture winners…
I think you're just looking for new ways to shit on a movie you didn't like and call its Best Picture win illegitimate. I thought it was the best film of that year (though Whiplash was just as good) and enough Academy members agreed with me that it won Best Picture. Trying to play armchair psychologist with the…
Yes. I think the bashing from The Dissolve before most normal people had even seen the film biased the film snob crowd around here against it. The hate was cemented when it was pitted against their beloved Boyhood for Best Picture. It's fanboy culture to treat art like it's a team sport and hate the competition.
So your contention is that the 5,000+ members of the Academy (or at least a large portion of them) all decided to vote for a movie they didn't actually love in an attempt to seem cool? That seems specious.
I'm not even sure what that's supposed to mean.
He plays a loose cannon really well. His character was the best part of 3:10 to Yuma.
Bullshit. The notion that an actor needs to make serious art to be respected is one of the biggest thing the film mocks.
