I cannot state emphatically enough how much I love this show.  Anybody who hasn’t seen it should stop what they are doing now and start watching.  The last episode had me welling up - it was so beautifully done.

Nerd alert - Blanchett as Galadriel is convincing you she was born in Valinor, but currently slumming it in Middle-earth

Alcohol.

Likewise.

I also clicked on this article thinking it was about Adam Levine. I was relieved that it wasn’t.

See also a regenerating Gallifreyan Time Lord who travels space and time in a period British police phone box that is bigger on the inside than the outside, and who is A WOMAN BLACK?!

All very interesting, but even if none of what you say were true, these people would still be racist pieces of shit, and “patently evil”.

Kind of connected - there’s a show on the BBC at the moment, Inside Man with David Tennant, Stanley Tucci and Lydia West, which was plugged on Norton’s show last week. So far I’m deeply unconvinced that a lot of the decisions made by the characters are in any way realistic, but the performances (as you’d expect) are

Indeed they do, but I thought actually referencing the actor, practically to camera, was the most obvious example.

For Your Eyes Only at 4?  Wow.

Yeah but who watched Cheers for Frasier Crane?

So are we saying that Seth Green makes you gay?

Yes but who’s this Mike Meyers chap?

I was 10 in 1979. In the UK we had a show called Points of View where people would write in with comments on TV shows. It went out about 8.30pm. As part of a bit on Salem’s Lot they showed a clip. The jump scare at the end of the clip sent me and my parents through our lounge ceiling.

How can so many utterly forgettable shows rank above the utterly terrifying Salem’s Lot?

Mostly he was good talking to straight to camera, and poor in his stilted back and forth with Jost.  That’s where Davidson killed it.

That only works if they try something completely different for the cold opens for the rest of the season.  I’m guessing... they won’t.

As I pointed out on the best of season 47 piece, Thompson barely appears at all in the “best of”. He’s never bad, but he very rarely makes me laugh out loud. If he’s the MVP, they are in trouble.

I keep reading how great Kenan Thompson is but I’ve rarely seem him being anything more than adequate. I think it’s quite telling how little Kenan there is in this list.
