I am with ya, I have enjoyed some of his songs over the years but have been horrified at who he grew to be. Wont be happy he is dead, but definitely not sad.

I had the misfortune of attending a Charlie Daniels gig. My college buddy and I, both potheads, got a little anxious when the crowd roared its approval for Daniels’ idea of hanging drug dealers.

In a year where we’ve lost Carl Reiner, Fred Willard, Jerry Stiller, Ennio Morricone, Ian Holm, Larry Kramer, Little Richard, and Kirk Douglas already I can’t generate much of a reaction for this guy.

I can think of nothing more shitty or pathetic than going out while tweeting about a stupid eight year old conspiracy theory. That’s got to be the social media equivalent of getting crushed by a vending machine while trying to shake a bag of chips loose.

Being a good country star with some awesome songs does not displace the fact that he was a right-wing turd burglar and I shed no tears for another fascist dead in the ground.  I’ll still enjoy his songs but I’ll remember what a shitty person he was.
