The best part is that it’s a completely new solution to the problem, they didn’t just figure out a way to replicate the HD glitch.

Never underestimate the will of people of being better/faster/stronger than the rest.

Honestly blown away that the first response to a speedrunning tech article isn’t condescending or sardonic.

This kind of thing blows my mind. I’m always amazed by the single-minded dedication of a community to solve seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

Seth did what he had to do to get Fox to sign off on it, and it has really paid off. I am so glad this show exists, and we get something that is really very special, unlike STD.

Very cool article, and further proof that this show seems to be doing things a little differently. I don’t know if he’ll ever admit that he pulled one over on Fox execs - selling it as straight parody before evolving into what it is now - but I’m just glad MacFarlane did it.

Man, this is such a great show.  So glad it was renewed for Season 3!!  Thanks for a great interview :)

That space battle between the Union and Kaylon fleets was completely unexpected but also amazing. The FX crew really pulled off something amazing. The way they show the ship, whether it is orbiting a planet or flying thru space has a very TNG feel as opposed to the stationary/handheld camera work seen in Firefly and

I think that when Emil C. used the word ‘traditionalist’ in this instance he was referring to a person who gives a shit about Star Trek canon.

No Kurtzman would be better...

Good news ! as Less Kurtsman is always a good thing !

Good sign. Maybe with Kurtzman pulling away from direct input into Trek scripts, the traditionalists will have a shot without being overruled.

I feel bad for the Russos.  Like, they have to be internally eyerolling so hard at this, but they have to suck it up and answer waves and waves of inane questions that have nothing to do with the actual movie.

Of course this would be a topic of discussion. Someone always has to find the littlest details to complain about and make it into an issue.

My mom just sent me a ton of issues of Amazing Science Fiction from the 40s and 50s that her father had in his attic. They have been exactly like that, but fantastic because of it.

Before I shake my cane at you and tell you to get off my lawn...

What’s also great is how the show tries to connect with the audience.

Without a doubt, The Orville is hands down the best Star Trek we’ve gotten since Galaxy Quest.

I wasn’t sure if I’d like this when it first came on the air - not a Family Guy fan, nor of MacFarlane. But damn it, he won me over in the first ep and can’t say enough good things about it since. It’s the Star Trek I grew up with, the best successor to TOS that I can imagine. And that’s saying a hell of a lot.
