We can decriminalize drugs without changing our constitution. We can’t do that for abortion. Blame the idiots who amended the abortion ban into our constitution in 1983. Now we need a national referendum, and those aren’t easy.

The differences you cite are differences in ideology, not structure. I very much doubt that BLM and the Tea Party share much in terms of ideology. I’m only saying that their leaderlessness and relative anarchism lead both groups to similar kinds of problems in terms of allegiance-forming.
