Applebee’s and TGIFridays exist and one could just as easily warm up the literal exact same food at home. Sometimes I would like a coffee and if there’s no local place Starbucks is fine. Plus they have those people that just love their weirdly specific coffee milkshake things.

Because Starbucks, like it or not, is consistent. And that’s their big draw. Much like a Budweiser beer or a Subway sandwich. I can go to any Starbucks in any state or in any country and I know that X beverage or Y treat will taste exactly the same.
