Thank you. I’ve had a CVT in three of my last four cars. And I’ve dealt with the Nissan, Honda and Subaru versions. The Nissan is just a lump. CVTs in general don’t allow much of the sporting aspects of an engine shine through, but the Nissan’s is just on a whole other level. The programming just seemed wonky…

I sooooooo badly want to NP this given the condition of it. But the automatic kills it. If it was manual, this thing would be a home run. But having dealt with my fair share of 80's Honda automatic transmissions, I just can’t.

Having had the (dis)pleasure of riding around in one a for a few years during high school, I can say fairly certainly that anything over $500 for a Citation is too much, even if it is an X-11. They just weren’t good cars. At all.
I can attest to that. My wife has had two Corollas she’s put 150k on. The 1.8 is about as dead reliable as it gets. And the Corolla is (or at least was) fairly simple to work on. Which is good because she keeps destroying suspension bits. I think perhaps her daily commute goes through Beirut or something.
You’re right about Toyota and the 1.8. I imagine (maybe incorrectly) that they’ll have to offer something different soon. That engine has been essentially unchanged for how long now?
