To be fair, the Acura CSX came out before the 8th gen Civic. It was originally a Canada-only car designed by Acura of a Canada but Honda loved it so much they decided to just use that as the 8th gen Civic.

That particular Civic engine (the R18) has almost nothing you can do to add power short of bolting on a turbo (good luck finding one since virtually no aftermarket support exists for this engine). It’s not even really a $5K discount. Before the scandal, JSW TDIs were going for 1K under invoice ($2K under sticker) so this really amounts to a $3K discount.
