no words. not real ones, anyway. just this.

Just wondering... is that lead photo from the Lambrecht auction? That turquoise '65 could be the big-block one that went for around $75k...

aaaaand here's a different kind of R/C truck fun...

Around 1990, I had a '72 Cutlass Supreme coupe in that creamy yellow with a brown vinyl roof and interior. Factory 350/Quadrajet. LOVED that car, but it was starting to rust in expensive places I didn't want to think about having to fix. A few years later I also owned a '72 Cutlass 4-door sedan. Not nearly as cool

Actually, I bought it used. Chrysler replaced the power transfer unit under warranty soon after I bought it AND right before the factory warranty expired. I don't remember it needing too much else, actually... maybe a power steering pump, IIRC. I kinda liked that car. Big enough to haul 6 (we have 4 kids, so that

And if you go far back enough, they didn't have that little blue headlight symbol, either.

When I had my Pacifica, the part that made me nuts was that when it threw this light, it ALSO took over the little Driver Information Center which I used to display fuel economy or whatever. Wouldn't let go until you corrected the tire pressure. It wouldn't have been so bad if it let you dismiss the written message

It makes me sad to admit that my wife once called me and asked what the horseshoe light with the exclamation point in it was for.

dat ass

Mario Kart was the first thing I thought too.

Ok, so, like, it's really funny that you guys ran this article now. A month or so ago, I was stuck in a waiting room for a while for I forget what. For no apparent reason, I started writing (in my iPhone Notes, no less) a list of the cars we have owned and what kinds of personalities they had. Here is what I wrote,

Good God, that was horrible. The Datsun one less so; maybe it was just bad and not horrible. Funny, though, that I'd like to have either of those cars today as a basis for a project... specifically a two-door Malibu with a 305 or the hatchback Datsun.

Thanks! Added all that info to my files, and I will start cruising forums to get familiar with all this stuff. If I ever get a project like this off the ground, I'll be sure to let you and the Jalop world know...

oops. just noticed how old this post is. apparently i forgot that i surfed to this article from a current one. sorry about that...

I just saved the entire text of your post up there into a Word document for future reference. As trustworthy and competent as my Altima is when viewed as an appliance, I am feeling a strong mid-life crisis need-for-speed thing coming on, and I can't afford a new V8 Mustang or Camaro or Challenger AND the divorce

Ok, so I'm ashamed to admit this, but here goes:

I dated a girl in college, circa 1990, who drove an old Rabbit GTI with a stick. No cup holders. Girl could handle a Big Gulp and a cigarette while driving. Never missed a shift, never spilled a drop, never ashed in the car. I am in awe to this day.

Still kicking myself for not buying the 4-speed '65 Corvair coupe I tire-kicked back in high school in 1986 or so. The seller kinda helped talk me out of it... told me all about some cylinder head oil seals that had to be replaced every 10,000 miles or so, and that scared me off. Pretty sure he just didn't want a
