The nazis were carrying shields ads out of plastic barrels cut lengthwise, and pieces of painted plywood. Home made riot shields. That should give everyone a clue about what their intentions were from the beginning.

Yeah, this. Free speech should be allowed, fine. But they let white supremacists march while carrying flags on heavy wooden poles that were intended for use as weapons. The cops and Guards should have been lining the rally venue and they should have confiscated all weapons and potential weapons from everyone attending.

Two things I think should be required in every high school class: transdisciplinary critical thinking and substantive statistical analysis.

Several of them denied that there are fewer black people than white people in the US. And the school, city, and state were without question NOT anywhere near majority black.

Understanding and interpreting statistics is an incredibly important and useful skill. Thank you for at least trying to teach them about that.

I taught high school English. The vast majority of the students were Hispanic, perhaps 20% black, very few whites, more Asians than whites.
