Eat those cookies! Similarly, I have four different desserts and only six for dinner. And I’m the only one who likes pumpkin pie. I know what my weekend is going to look like!

1) Bummer that they won’t be able to join you, but 2) chocolate chip cookies are more than a silver lining, they’re like a...silver cloud. (I’m currently eating cookies that I didn’t make but which are delicious.)

Maybe there will be so many things going on that they each cancel out any negativity of any of the other things.

My dad called me yesterday afternoon to ask if I could pick up a pumpkin pie for Tgiving. An innocuous request, but I was so annoyed. My step-mother waits until the last minute to do *everything* (from whom this request actually originated). I had stuff of my own to do yesterday after work, as well as today, not to Read more

Thanksgiving proper is actually my grad school graduation! I did it! Except it brings up its own host of issues - I feel incredibly anxious seeing my professors again. And my parents are in town, which, yay, except my partners parents are also in town, so it’s going to be the first time they meet. Which is also very Read more

We got our Thanksgiving over with weeks ago in Canadia, so nothing’s going on here but rain. Though snow is forecast for the weekend.

The 5 years that I lived in NC, a wegmans free wasteland, were a struggle. I tell people that I moved back home to be closer to family and friends, but it was really to be closer to wegmans  :-)

My dogs have always had lipomas as they’ve hit pet middle-age. They always appeared fast enough that I was like “wtf did you get a giant zit coming up???”

Hahaha perfect. That music can be applied so accurately to congress and this administration, and it’s funny every damn time.

This. I want to be on good terms with my neighbors, but not much more. I know the names of a few of them, but not all. I actually hardly ever see anyone! I think our schedules must overlap. I do have a closer relationship with one specific neighbor. He’s on the condo board, but travels for work. No one knows when he’s Read more

I really don’t want to have more than a casual relationship with my neighbors. If shit goes bad I can’t just move! I’ll put their trash cans out if they’re away, wave hello, engage in very, VERY, brief small talk. That’s it. But yeah, stand next to me in the produce section of Whole Foods and I’ll talk about tomatoes Read more

Well deserving of repetition (from the Salon article): After her husband’s passing, Maya Cummings said in a statement that Elijah Cummings was “an honorable man, who proudly served his district and the nation with dignity, integrity, compassion and humility. He worked until his last breath, because he believed our Read more
