Civilization has climaxed.

I will chiggidy check that shit.

Alexander Skarsgård was so good in Generation Kill, he could spend the rest of his life shitting in shit movies and I’d still love him.

<Bobby> KATIE, LEAVE HIM ALONE MAN, HE’S HAD ENOUGH.
<Katie> I’LL DECIDE WHEN HE’S HAD ENOUGH, MAN.
*MIYAGI SWOOPS IN*

It’s so weird to me that Wolf Parade is opening for Japandroids and not vice versa.

Yea, I remember thinking, “Well that was a nifty little thriller.” But I’m legit surprised by all of these nominations.

I was kinda into it up to the end, which felt tacked on and anticlimactic. I’d watch Joel Edgerton cut carrots though.

I do this all the time.

Dead babies?

We can disagree that including a “powerful topic” in an artistic work demands that it be the centerpiece.

You want to know why a complex dramatic work about anger and forgiveness didn’t shoehorn a polemic subplot about the evils of racism in somewhere? Because that would’ve been dumb.

That’s because the film you watched—the film we’re discussing—isn’t a thoughtful meditation about how a person is socialized to become a racist. You’re criticizing a piece of art for not being another piece of art.

If you dislike a piece of art because it doesn’t represent your ideal picture of the world, maybe it’s time to consider that the problem is with you and not the art.

Can someone get the AVClub interns something better to do?

Your dedication is an inspiration.

AVClub, I decreasingly give a shit about whatever dumb fuck daily Internet outrage you guys proxy. This is tedious moralizing over trivial offense. Maybe reconsider your signal/noise ratio.

Oh what a clever trickster she is.

Maybe he’s just having a nice character arc.

“that meant giving the role of tycoon J. Paul Getty to Scott’s first choice, Christopher Plummer, who had been passed over by the studio in favor of the more “bankable” Spacey.”

I like this guy. Clone him immediately and scatter him around the Earth.
