I think it’s the most emotionally resonant for a lot of people. After he stopped writing with Owen Wilson the emotions in his films get very muted (Life Aquatic being the exception). There are still deep emotions there, but they’re buried as if the movie is a Thanksgiving in Connecticut.

As someone who recently watched the series for the first time, I will recommend that you don’t plan on binge watching it.  It’s too intense for more than a couple episodes per day, and you’ll want to reflect on each one for a bit before moving on to the next.

Well, I just finished the series and... I liked it! And that makes it the first Flanagan thing I’ve liked since Gerald’s Game. I thought it was a good yarn with some intriguing ideas, had several solid performances (Sloyan and Linklater both absolutely killed it) and I really liked the setting.
