I have a STRONG aversion to f2p, in that I won’t even play games for franchises I like, like Star Trek... but I’ve been playing this through Gamepass since launch and I honestly didn’t even realize it was a f2p game. It has literally never come up in any way.

The producers, Ann McElhinney and Phelim McAleer, are “journalists” who have made a movie about how fracking is great, a separate, anti-environmentalist movie funded by a mining company, and one about how climate change isn’t real.

“Why do you find this guy’s right to make money off of ruining people’s day more important than everyone else’s right to play a video game without being made to feel like shit?”

That movie was SO BAD. I had already stopped engaging with Potter stuff, really, but that movie single-handedly destroyed any affection I had for even the original books. God DAMN what a bad movie.

Um, I’ve been playing videogames for 30+ years, and I am AMAZED with how seamless cloud gaming has gotten (and I live in the suburbs of Georgia.) I don’t like the Stadia service, but the tech works flawlessly. XCloud is getting there. Yes, obviously there’s lag, but for most use cases, it is in no way massive.

Also, your username leads me to believe you’d be into Gates McFadden’s new podcast where she interviews other Trek friends. Have you listened to it? Frakes had some really funny stories.
