I love this! It somewhat makes up for the Docs Web app not having the ability to transcribe handwriting into textual input like the mobile app. Fortunately the Keep Web app does transcribe handwritten input.

Your experience is far from typical. Using my more than year-old Asus Chromebook Flip feels nearly as responsive as using my Core I7 HP on Win10 and is definitely much more reliable. 4GB RAM should be more than ample for a Chromebook. And you shouldn’t really need permanent disk space if you’re using Cloud storage as…
By default, the setting to enable Play Store apps is turned off. Since you manage the schools’ Chromebooks, you should have the option to prevent users from changing that setting. No worries.
Well yes, Chromebooks are way outselling Macs now. Sales are booming.
A veiled Bing commercial.
I’ve used BlueStacks. It isn’t worth the effort. Even in this early stage, hybrid Android on a my Chromebook Flip far outperforms BlueStacks.
It’s Windows—what do you expect? Mostly, I now use a Chromebook.
Great, use pads. It’s OK. We’re very understanding.
For now, a micro SD card will only be helpful by allowing you to store work files on removable instead of built-in storage. But I doubt Android apps will install anywhere but on the built-in eMMC or SSD.
You know what? As long as you’ll respect others’ choice to use a Chromebook, then they should have no issue respecting your preference to use a MacBook. Even though I absolutely love my Asus Chromebook Flip, I’m still not too crazy about the title of the article. It’s provocative clickbait.
Let’s wait and see. Anyone like me who won’t rely on their Chromebook for entertainment will likely seldom if ever use Android on Chrome OS. For us, there’ll probably always be inexpensive Chromebooks on the market with ARM processors, 4GB RAM, and 16GB storage. Long live Web apps!
Android hysteria has already too frequently overtaken reason. So thank you, Mr. Eric, for saying this: “You’ll notice I left out the “big apps” that everyone looks for from an app store like Facebook or YouTube. That’s because Chrome OS already does these things well in a browser tab. In fact, you probably won’t need…
If you have Chromecast, try Videostream:
If you frequently use Web apps and browser extensions in Google Chrome browser on a PC or Mac, then a Chromebook enables you to continue doing that. But a Chromebook boots in 7 secs., has zero maintenance requirements, is virus/malware proof, and is lightweight but highly portable because the battery usually lasts…
It’s pretty obvious what your current 3 choices are. And obviously, touch screens will be supported first. I personally love my 4GB ASUS Chromebook Flip because of the rugged metal case and small size.
Chromebooks are currently totally secure. The potential for compromising this security is by far my chief regret about adding Play Store apps, though you can opt out. In an overall Chrome OS environment, closed source Android support doesn’t both me and will enable the technology to mature much, much more rapidly.
Perhaps you haven’t noticed that a Chromebook is not a tablet? And Chromebook sales are growing exponentially, and now exceed Apple Mac sales in the U.S., and will no doubt take a big jump with the addition of Play Store availability.
I have a Chromebook Flip, which has a touch screen. I’m looking forward to testing this capability out. Although I have a Nexus tablet, there aren’t very many Android apps that I need, or use, or would like to use. But it’s nice to know that I may be able to keep my Safe In Cloud account instead of switching over to…
Excellent question—it gets to a fundamental difference between Chrome OS and Windows, etc. Cloud Print servers manage communications with printers so that mountains of device drivers don’t have to install and load on every client device. In Windows, every file that makes the device work has to reside directly on your…
Chromebooks cuts out all of the pointless time-wasting tasks that Windows and Android users just accept as necessary. That’s why.
