I feel pretty much the same way, if I wanted to scan and bag groceries, I would apply for a job there. I’m not saying they shouldn’t have them, but at least make sure a few manned registers are open, with at least one express lane. I almost wouldn’t be surprised to get a call one night from a Walmart manager telling

Movies seem to make the fears of airline pilot incapacitation worse than reality. While a pilot dying en route is tragic, the bigger emergency is the health of the dying pilot, not the fact that the aircraft is still flying. The FAA stresses that these incidents are rare and passenger safety isn’t really compromised.

For those wondering why the garage is set forward of the rest of the house....

“75% of Americans only buy a used car. The average age of a used car is 12.2 years”

Do people who write for Jalopnik actually like cars?

Car enthusiasts don’t understand the automotive industry or consumer preferences: more at 11.

They actually do, though. Cars are expensive, and, speaking from the perspective of the broader public, if you can have one car that does everything moderately well and save yourself a few hundred dollars a month, that’s what you’re going to do.

The 2000s is when all the bars actually added craft beer on top of the usual macrobrew bs though...? Like, in the year 2000 hardly anyone had heard of an IPA and by 2010 everyone knew whether or not they liked an IPA.

New Jersey resident Nyoami Winterburn knows this: If her state ever abolishes full-service gasoline stations, then baby, she was born to run.”

Absolutely ridiculous. I remember getting stuck on the Jersey turnpike in a line of 6 cars which took almost a half hour to get through due to the languid pace of the attendants. After that, we made it a practice to gas up in CT or MD so we wouldn’t end up in that mess again.

The O.C. and I guess One Tree Hill too made such a huge deal of bringing the artists on the show, not just using their songs but displaying them to the audience, which I think made a real impact.”
