Yes and no to your comment as well. A big reason you aren’t seeing affordably priced hatchbacks is because OEMs are prioritizing microchips for their more profitable vehicles. This obviously varies by automaker. 

I actually hope you’re right, but I have my doubts. Maybe my memory fails me, but I don’t recall BlackBerry users being as devout as Tesla or Apple fans. 

I’m sorry to tell you, but as someone with inside knowledge of such things, I can tell you that the legacy automakers tend to plan their EV launches so that they sell out prior to launch, that way they can have an easy claim to success in the media.
