Also, guys - don't feed the trolls, in general. But please really don't feed them here. This is just too sad.

I was bullied by this girl in middle school. I did everything right: went to the principal and told her what happened. The next day, me, my mom, the girl, her mom, and the principal all sat down in a room together. Basically, nothing happened. The principal allowed me to stay home that day and the girl got 0

How exactly are your scenarios equivalent? People deciding to go to Little China and eat Chinese food on their own time away from work vs. a university equating fried chicken (which even Fox news recognizes is racially loaded) with black history month?

Oh, fuck this. I'm guessing he was being bullied at his school and the adults couldn't be bothered to do anything to rein in the little shits, just like it was when I was a kid. The excuses were always, "oh, they need to work it out themselves," or "oh, honey, just ignore them, they're jealous," or other bullshit

Hi. You're being an asshole.

He accused the Black employees who planned their own event of "segregation."

Where do you live that allows you to not understand why an oppressed population wants a period of acknowledgement for their heritage and contributions to a country built on their backs? Especially when the mainstream culture likes to overlook and/or downplay said contributions. Must be nice inside that particular

Oh, it wasn't my event. It was a group of co-workers who were also friends. They planned something for themselves to do on their own lunch time. But, to answer your question, yeah they still had their event (of course it was the same date and time as the office event—they just didn't go).

Oh, it was intense. Black people basically stopped talking to everyone. White folks walking around feeling guilty/sad/scared. You could cut the tension with a knife. The headquarters office almost got involved. It was a mess. And again, all because one white man felt left out. It was just crazy!

Whooooooaaaaa. That's intense.

My job did this a few years ago. It's a federal government office. On the menu was "chitterlings and maw" and something called "Hopping John." Yes, this was all planned by non-Blacks.

not the best sentence but tbh the follow up of 'why was it done' etc was more than i expected

This is one of those times when a photo says it all. The menu in question:

They had this same thing at Ohio State University's North Dining Hall in 2004 when I was a sophomore. (MLK Day special menu) Fried Chicken, collared greens, and watermelon were on the menu, as I recall. They axed it the following year, thankfully.

"I apologize to anyone hurt by the display," Hopkins wrote. "To our credit, the menu was quickly removed."

I feel like this video is a metaphor for my attempt at dealing with the cable company today.

Gonna share this with my AP History students while I try to turn them into evil feminists.

Screw you.

I swear that I need to be their PR department. Like seriously, I could have just tweeted "Rowan, we are working on new books for our female heroes after the events of Convergence. Some of them are Black Canary, Starfire , and Zantana. We are working on giving more heroines more books that they deserve"......Then

I really wish DC hadn't dragged this girl in the middle of this. She seems like a sweet kid with a good head on her shoulders. She knows what she wants and one day she'll probably be either getting it or making it herself. That's great.
